Linda Maxwell

Linda started her professional career in the early 80's.From 1980‑1988

she sang lead and harmony vocals and played guitar in studio at C. B.C.

Experience Radio Building in Sydney to be recorded for the show, "Talent Cape

Breton" which was aired on Saturday afternoons on C.B.C. (1140) A.M.

radio. She sung original songs and cover material as well as

accompanied herself on rhythm guitar. She also accompanied many

other Cape Breton musicians with her rhythm guitar and intriguing

harmony vocal style.
 


Simultaneously, she fronted live bands as lead singer, singing rock and

roll, top4O and blues. The last one being "Lynda Maxx". Her bands

opened for acts such as: Harlequin and Platinum Blonde in the 80's and

as lead and background singer with Bruce Gouthro, opened for country

artist George Fox. Linda continues to pursue her music career. She is

songwriting and continues to sing at weddings and funerals in the local

area and is involved in studio sessions. She has volunteered her time at

the" International Women's Day" concerts for the past ten years and has

participated in "The Load Of Wood" in the Sydney area. She's played

original music for the "Bird Island Boat Tours" at The North Star Inn's

Banquet Room.


Linda played venues such as The College Of Cape Breton's" Playhouse

Theatre" (Cape Breton University) alongside Joella Foulds as harmony

singer and later as lead singer/songwriter herself as headlining act, that

was recorded live for radio airplay on C.B.C. Radio.

She also played venues such as showcase performances at The Savoy

Theatre . in Glace Bay alongside Bruce Gouthro and a showcase

performance at The Best Western in Truro, Nova Scotia, singing harmony

and backing vocals.

King Street, North Sydney.

Harmony vocals and background vocals on (K94 Country Challenge

Winner) Bruce Gouthro's C.D. entitled "Sails To The Wind". 1994.

songs: "Living In The 90's", "Small Town Heroes" and "The Backshore"

taped in Dartmouth (Living In The 90's),"Old Favorites", The Penhorn

Harmony vocals and background vocals on Cindy Hill's C.D. entitled "Cindy Hill"

"Man In The Moon" recorded in 1995 at Tom O'keefe's Studio, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

Linda is currently one half of the new Duo "Linda Maxwell/Johnny Edmunds and

is playing frequently in the Cape Breton area. She is presently songwriting and has

plans of recording her original material in the near future.
